Tod Maffin [full bio] is a national technology commentator for CBC Radio One, CBC Television, and CBC Newsworld. He also done reports for other national media, including CNN, Bloomberg TV, TechTV, and a number of national newspapers.
He has appeared regularly on CBC News: Canada Now, Metro Morning, Early Edition, and DNTO, and hosted two of his own network programs: todradio.com and Real Life Chronicles.
He is widely recognized as an international authority on consumer electronics, Internet and web technologies, software, and other technologies, and his blog and newsletter are followed by tens of thousands of people who are interested in, or regularly work with, technology.
Tod spends a great deal of his time on the road as a keynote speaker for major conferences, often addressing thousands of people at a time about technology, the social web, electronics, and business trends. He has addressed audiences around the world — from Stockholm to Berlin and from Romania to Australia — and has worked directly with firms such as VISA, Manulife Financial, Cisco, Reader’s Digest, Sun, HSBC, Honeywell, AT&T, Bell, British Airways, and many more.
Tod also has solid business experience. In 1999, he co-founded MindfulEye, a company that developed artificial intelligence technology that could rank the subjective mood of public opinion on the Internet. Under Tod’s leadership as CEO, the company went public in 18 months, created several patented processes, and grew strongly in the financial services market.
