When I was at PodCamp Toronto last week, I ran into Richard Pietro who was one of the organizers behind Open Data day. If you don't know anything about Open Data, it's worth looking into. Essentially, it's a group of developers who are using publicly available data from government and other organizations and applying a more friendly face to it. Because, let's face it. These websites aren't exactly the most user-friendly.
I was really encouraged to see government participating in the open data session, and Richard told me a bit more about it in this interview attached. It's also worth checking out his website CitizenBridge.org.
